The 2010 Nebraska Legislature is in session. For an easy way to stay up to date on happenings in the Legislature go to the Legislature website . From this site, you may look up an existing statute, find bills that are being debated, or to find general information about the Nebraska Legislature. Scroll down the left hand side of the page and select “For Citizens”. Here you will find links to view the activity of the Legislature via streaming video, find information about your senator or about the legislative process and Nebraska’s unicameral, or descriptions about the budget process and tax system in Nebraska. If you want to view the Legislative action via streaming video, from the “For Citizens” page select “watch committee hearings live” or “watch session live;” or from the home page, click in the blue box that says “Click here for Streaming Video” If you are interested in a particular legislative bill (LB), on the right hand side of the home page, , type in the bill number; for example “1110” and select “go”. This will allow you to read the legislative bill as submitted, identify any amendments that have been submitted, read the fiscal note about the costs of the proposed legislation, and follow the bill through the legislative process.
